The "Venetian Plaster" effect is created in a variety of ways with a variety of different products. I create it the simple way, using sheetrock mud, two coats of a base paint and a coordinating darker glaze. The glaze seeps into the crevices, created by the texture, highlighting the texture and creating more depth. The finish can then be polished with beeswax for a soft glowing, marble-like effect. However, most of my customers have preferred the matte finish and a very subtle contrast between the base coat and the deeper glaze color. More than one glaze color can also be applied for more of a marbled look. There is no limit to what can be done.
